You *Must* act fast for this deal because it is available only SUNDAY 7/16, or until they are sold out.

For only $38, you can get an RCA Lyra 256MB MP3 Player with FM Modulator from www.Woot.com

The FM Modulator is a wireless FM transmitter that you can plug into your car cigarette lighter to send the sound from the MP3 player to your car radio. Of course, you can just use the portable MP3 player with included headphones for up to 20 hours on one AAA battery.

The Lyra has a resume feature, so it will save your last spot when you’re listening to audiobooks. It also has an SD Card slot so that you can increase the memory (see the OPTIONAL deal below).

Sunday only, or until sold out at www.Woot.com

  2. I got one of these MP3 players and agree that it’s a great value, but I have a question: I’m using it to listen to Audible.com audiobooks rather than to music, and when I turn the unit off and go back to listen again I always have to search to find the place I had left off. Do you know any way to “save your place” before turning the unit off?

I’ve also found that the FM transmitter is pretty weak, especially
compared with units I’ve had from Irock for years.

    Chuck Says:

According to the manual for another Lyra model manual, the Lyra’s Auto Resume works like this:

Use the PAUSE button, *not* the “Stop” button. “The player will
automatically turn off if no buttons are activated for one minute.” Then, later, “Press PLAY to resume playback from the track where the player was paused.”

It’s also possible that you may need to upgrade the firmware to enable this feature. You can download the latest firmware at the link below:

Like you, I’ve been through a few FM Transmitters. In general, the FM Transmitters that did NOT work well were the ones that worked on batteries or the ones that had dial tuners instead of switches.

I’ve had best luck with the ones that had either a switch or a digital tuner, like the one on the Irock. While I’ve not used the specific type of FM transmitter that arrived with your Lyra, I have had surprisingly good luck with this 12v FM transmitter that this guy sells on eBay and that he sends from Hong Kong, for about $10, shipped. BTW, his eBay positive feedback score is 18,751!

FM Transmitter, about $10 with shipping:
