My friend, Chuck Harroun emailed this question, “I have a Notebook computer and I have noticed that the bottom of it becomes warm. Should I buy one of those Notebook “Coolers” or a base with an extra fan in it?”

I’ve owned a dozen or so notebook computers and some have operated warmer than others. A few years ago I had a Sony Vaio 505 and when it’s fan failed it would sometimes stop working completely when it heated up. Eventually I replaced the internal fan but a cooling fan may have also worked. Read more

BidRobot doesn’t snipe Yahoo. We’ve rarely been asked for this feature and sniping isn’t as effective at Yahoo because of Yahoo’s Auto Extension mechanism:

I know, I know.

You don’t back up your computer nearly as often as you should.

Shame on you!

I prefer backing up to external hard drives because I can connect an external drive and let the computer do all the work overnight.

However, you may want to back up your computer to writable DVD discs which are now very inexpensive when you buy them in bulk. Read more
